Our program provides individualized intensive intervention for students who demonstrate persistent reading difficulties.
While there are three students present at a session, each student works on an individualized prescription based on skills gaps identified through the assessment process. The overarching goal is for students to become more effective and efficient readers and to directly apply these acquired skills in the classroom.

The AchieveReading Individualized program uses a “mastery learning” approach. This approach allows a student to work through skills at his/her own pace to ensure understanding and application of concept knowledge before moving on to more difficult tasks. The mastery learning approach is designed for students to experience immediate success, maintain motivation, and improve performance on individually identified skills. Teachers introduce new skills using through guided practice activities, and then scaffold instruction until a student demonstrates understanding. Students move on to more difficult skills after a series of successful performances on independent practice activities. In addition to direct skill instruction, students are taught strategies to become more skillful readers including: self-monitoring techniques,
self-questioning and using graphic organizers.

The scope and sequence of the AchieveReading Individualized program includes the essential components of an effective reading program including:

• Alphabetics (phonics instruction and phonemic awareness)
• Comprehension
• Vocabulary
• Fluency development
