Upon returning from Spring Break, each classroom at High Road School was given a Butterfly Growing Kit. The kits contained several caterpillars which the students were tasked with caring for through the various stages of transformation to a butterfly. The project inspired cross-curricular activities such as journal prompts, art projects, and research assignments. The students also took turns with feeding and observational tasks.
By the time of their release outside, the butterflies – now known as Nelly, Morgan Freeman, Butterfree, Eminem, and Tae, among others – felt like a part of the High Road family! Several sightings have since been reported and students believe the butterflies are sticking close to home.
