Ms. Kemp planned an awesome academic field trip for her 6th and 7th grade Science classes! The group visited the Watkins Nature Center of Prince George’s County to become more acquainted with elements of nature. The workshop students attended focused on the three rock groups, how they are created and where they come from. Students conducted experiments to help them identify the rocks by how hard or soft they are- they also worked on identifying rocks based on whether or not they could float! Every student who attended the workshop got to take home a piece of quartz as a small souvenir. Academic trips are a great way to get students even more engaged in their learning, and this trip was no different!
