Catapult Academy to Open Student Resource Centers in Southern California
The dropout prevention program will partner with two independent study charter schools to serve students throughout Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
September 22, 2015, Camden, New Jersey – Catapult Academy today announced the fall 2015 opening of resource centers in Los Angeles County and San Diego County, California. In partnership with two independent study charter schools, the Catapult Academy program will provide academic, guidance, and support services to students throughout Southern California.
Catapult Academy serves students who have struggled in traditional schools and need an alternative solution to complete their education and earn a high school diploma. Located in student-friendly settings within the community, the program incorporates instructional best practices and implements proven intervention strategies through a blended learning model. Catapult Academy offers a full-service program with flexible scheduling, college admission guidance, and career coaching. Upon graduation, students receive a high school diploma.
Andrew Post, Vice President & Superintendent of Schools for Catapult Academy, explained the value of the resource centers to students as well as to the surrounding community. “Catapult Academy’s program not only supports and expands students’ educational opportunities, it also proves to be an invaluable economic and workforce development tool to the local communities in which we operate,” said Post. “In collaboration with our educational and community partners, we are committed to increasing the number of high school graduates in the neighborhoods we serve.”
As a student resource center for two independent study charter schools—Community Collaborative Independent Study Charter School, authorized by the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District in Los Angeles County, and the County Collaborative Independent Study Charter School, authorized by the Mountain Empire Unified School District in San Diego County—Catapult Academy will serve students throughout these counties as well as the contiguous counties of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, Ventura, and Kern. Working in partnership with each charter school, Catapult Academy will provide comprehensive academic and support services.
The Catapult Academy program serves nearly 1,500 students in seven counties throughout Florida and Georgia. With the fall 2015 opening of the three student resource centers in Southern California, Catapult Academy will have 22 locations nationwide.
