Two Catapult Learning Schools Named 2015 Blue Ribbon Schools
On September 29, 2015, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the 2015 Blue Ribbon Schools, naming two Catapult Learning schools among the fifty private schools in the country to receive this distinction. The 2015 awardees, a total of 335 schools including 285 public schools, are recognized for their achievements in academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps.
During its 33-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has selected only 8,200 public and private schools nationwide for this honor. Schools are chosen in one of two performance categories—Exemplary High Performing Schools and Exemplary Improving Schools—based on standardized test scores, subgroup student scores, and graduation rates. Nominations for the private schools honorees are submitted by the Council for American Private Education (CAPE), which administers the program for private school on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education.
The Catapult Learning partner schools recognized include St. Cornelius Elementary School in Chicago, Illinois, and Our Mother of Consolation Parish School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both schools were selected in the Exemplary High Performing Schools category.
This year’s awardees will be honored at a recognition ceremony on November 9−10, 2015, in Washington, DC.
