School Leaders Encouraged and Inspired to “Create a Culture of Excellence” During the Hawaii Alliance Instructional Leadership Conference

DSC02148 - picture of bannerThe Hawaii Alliance team recently welcomed school leaders from several Hawaii schools across the various islands to its annual three-day Instructional Leadership Conference. The event, held October 21−23, 2015, at the Westin Moana Surfrider Resort in Honolulu, Hawaii, focused on the theme “Creating a Culture of Excellence” and offered school leaders the chance to meet and share ideas with colleagues from across the islands.

DSC02150-group pictureDuring two days of presentations that integrated academic instruction and culture, presenters and participants discussed how academic instruction and creating a culture of excellence can lead to every student and teacher achieving beyond expectations. Dr. Andrew Ordover, Catapult Learning’s Vice President of Product and Curriculum and author of the ebook Teaching for the Stretch: Strategies for Building Conceptual Understanding, was the conference’s featured speaker. Popular breakout sessions presented by the Hawaii Alliance team included “The Well-Planned Literacy Classroom,” “Supporting Students with Accessing Complex Text Across All Content Areas,” and “Applying the Growth Mindset to Foster a Culture of Effective Coaching, Collaboration, Learning, and Trust.”
