Mrs. Shipley, native of Johannesburg, South Africa, delighted high school students with an African Culture Presentation as part of their Social Studies Curriculum. Therapy Dog Visits Capital Academy

Elementary students had the opportunity to meet Moses, a certified therapy dog and his handler Ms. Anne! During the initial visit students were introduced to Moses and taught how to approach, pet and interact with him appropriately. Moses is certified through Therapy Dog's International. Embryology

For the second year Capital Academy was excited to participate in the chick embryology program offered through Penn State Extension/ Dauphin County 4H! Students learned about development and care of eggs during the 21 day incubation period. With the assistance of Sonya Nace, Penn State Extension, students candled the eggs to get a glimpse into the development before hatching! Out of the 12 eggs, five chicks hatched! Critter Connection!

Spiders, and snakes and turtles... OH MY! Capital Academy students had the opportunity to get up close and person with some interesting creatures. As an incentive experience for students who earned positive or higher status, Critter Connection brought some amazing critters for us to meet! Students learned about the various animals and got to touch, hold and interact with a variety of creatures including snakes, lizards, turtles, cockroaches, a tarantula and a guinea pig! High School Pie Face pt. 2

As the tradition continues, high school students who maintained an average of a B or higher as well as a positive status were given the opportunity to pie a staff member of their choice in the face. Sweaters, Trees, Houses and Doors!

Capital Academy is bursting with holiday spirit! Through out the month of December students and staff prepared for the winter holidays and spread holiday cheer! Students enjoyed a trip to a local tree farm to pick out a fresh cut tree to decorate the lobby! Gingerbread houses were adorned with sweet treats (and maybe a few were eaten)! Antique Auto Museum

Students attended a field trip to the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey, PA. Students were able to explore numerous vintage vehicle displays and interactive exhibits featuring cars, buses, motorcycles, and other automobiles from the 1890s through the 1980s.
