College- and career-readiness standards require content area teachers to share in the responsibility of teaching and reinforcing literacy in every subject. Disciplinary Literacy is designed to engage middle and high school teachers in building sustainable capacity, allowing them to increase students’ level of content-related literacy in the vocabulary-rich subjects of science and social studies.
