Hawaii Alliance Schools Outperform Comparison Schools in Each Subject
For the past decade, Alliance has been a proud partner with over 60 schools across the Hawaii islands, working together with teachers and school leaders to drive transformation and close the achievement gap.
Hawaii Alliance partnership schools not only increase their proficiency rate in reading and math right away, but proficiency increases exponentially over time as the schools build capacity and implement new practices.
An analysis conducted by Dr. James Marshall of San Diego State University compared 44 schools served by Hawaii Alliance to other Title I schools in the state with similar academic performance.
The analysis found that overall, Hawaii Alliance schools outperformed their matched comparison schools in each subject area, with average gains in math and reading proficiency increasing each program year.
- 48.2% of students tested proficient in Mathematics—15.2% more than matched comparison schools—after seven years of Hawaii Alliance implementation
- 28.2% of students testing proficient in Reading— 8.3% more than matched comparison schools—after seven years of Hawaii Alliance implementation
