With Literacy First, you will build and establish teacher capacity and confidence as well as strong supportive instructional leadership. With easy to follow, step-by-step procedures that provide clear instructional strategies, you will drive students to clearer and quicker understanding of content and strengthen teachers’ literacy teaching skills, regardless of content area.
In each year of the three-year tiered framework, content area teachers each receive a 200-page Teacher Manual and two Teacher Resource books.
As texts will vary from content area to content area, the Literacy First framework for middle school and high school does not require the use of any specific set of student reading materials. However, lessons in the teacher manual include a variety of short texts, including fiction and nonfiction selections, as well as other instructional materials to reach the learning objectives of each content area, including charts, graphic organizers, photos and illustrations.
