High-school-aged students actively participate in workplace awareness activities, a life skills curriculum, and an exposure to a variety of potential postsecondary paths through industry and college tours. With an emphasis on dropout prevention and post-secondary career or college preparation, we provide support and guidance to students no matter the path they are looking to take.
Working with each student, we create a checklist of activities that guides students from their freshman through their senior year, establishing a path towards postsecondary pursuits that may include college or trade school enrollment, employment in the workplace, or enlistment in the military.
To best determine a student’s desired goals and career, we utilize a number of measures Self-Directed Search (SDS), Microcomputer Evaluation of Careers and Academics (MECA), Choices Planner, Abilities Profile and Learning Style Inventory.
Each classroom consists of 8–10 students, on average, and is led by at least one certified special education teacher and one qualified special education teaching assistant.
