My name is Ms. Koen and I am a new teacher at Sierra Eastern. I am a recent Sacramento State graduate with a Bachelors in Sociology. This is my first year as a teacher for Sierra and I am so excited! I can’t wait to share all the great work my students have been doing!
Our theme for this year is “Under the Sea” and we have been working on a lot of great sea-themed art to decorate our class! Please, come visit us and see our aquarium hall (this is where we take time to relax), hanging jellyfish, and Simon the octopus!
For the month of April, our class kept practicing working on our safety signs, purchases, and social skills. My students had a lot of fun on our CBI’s. We had a great time at the movies, got some great exercise at Mojo Dojo, enjoyed the park, and looking at some cool gadgets at Fry’s Electronics.
Our class also started planting and learning about plant and animal cycles as well as getting creative with spring artwork and lots of dance parties on our fun Fridays.
For the month of May, our class will begin doing various science projects that are based on our solar system, planets, and environment.
In addition, we will focus on life cycles, food groups, health vs. not healthy foods, and more cooking fun!
