Grant Classroom

Hi Parents!

I would like to take a moment to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year, share some exciting, new upcoming activities we have planned and as well take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who are new to our classroom this year. Hopefully by now, most of you know me as Ms. Mariela. I have been with Sierra Schools since they started here in Antioch in 2016, but have been an Early Special Education Teacher since 2012. I’m originally from Southern California, where I’ve lived most of my life, earned my BA in Human and Child Development and later clearing my Credential in Early Education Specialist Instruction. Prior to that, I was a substitute teacher for 2 years, where I had the opportunity to work with Special Education students ages pre-K to High School and realized without a doubt that my passion was with preschoolers!

This year in October I’m excited to share that we’ll be having a balloon and face painting party. Our guest is an expert in balloon making and we cannot wait to see some of the elaborate balloon making talent she’ll be sharing. Later in December we hope to invite a special guest to come to our class and do a Bubble Show, and share some fun and silly ways to play with bubbles. Early next year, in February we hope to schedule the Tumble Time bus, (it’s pretty much a small kids gym on wheels). The kids get an opportunity to Zipline, jump, tumble and play in a ball pit, all inside this fun and kid friendly bus. Finally in April, we’ll schedule “Tickle Me Pony” for the kids to get an opportunity to ride on a pony here at school. Please know that we always welcome our parents to attend. Dates and times will be shared closer to the events.

Again, welcome! Hopefully, you have all taken the time to read about our new BEST Model program we have implemented this new school year, if you have any questions about the program or anything in general please reach out.
