Improving Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills Through Robotics

During Summer 2019, a select group of promising students at Benjamin Banneker Charter School in Willingboro, New Jersey participated in Catapult Learning’s Robotics program. Learning code, solving complex problems, improving logic and algorithms, working with teams and making new friendships were all part of this engaging summer program for these students.

The turnkey Robotics program develops students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills through engaging, hands-on activities. Students build confidence and become lifelong independent learners through this high-quality enrichment program by integrating science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and engaging way to introduce students to coding. With competitions and games for the collective group, teamwork and strategic thinking is always encouraged.

Students use Vex IQ Robot Kits and Chromebooks to build, program, and code their robot. They get to see their hard work in action as teams challenge each other in a friendly robotics “sumo competition” to culminate the course.
