Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) has expanded its partnership with High Road Schools for the 2015–2016 school year. Following a successful 2014–2015 school year at Snow Hill Middle, WCPS is now enhancing services for high school students with academic and behavioral challenges. Through our programs at Snow Hill Middle School and Snow Hill High School, this partnership has created opportunities for Worcester County students who are in need of intensive behavior support to remain in their local community while still receiving the personalized attention they require to succeed academically and behaviorally. This partnership also allows students to have direct access to their district’s curriculum, equipment, and amenities as they benefit from the targeted, research-based interventions that have long been a staple of the High Road School program.
Predicated on strong collaboration and communication between school district and High Road staff, in-district programs are designed to provide support and services for students to increase both their scholastic and their social functioning. The students are served in highly structured, therapeutic classroom settings inside public schools. The academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of each student are met through such means as a low staff-to-student ratio, individualized and small-group teaching approaches, counseling services, and a comprehensive behavior management system. The High Road staff works in unison with district special education and general education teachers to ensure that our students receive the maximum benefit from both district resources and those of the High Road program.
