Meet the Team
Jennifer Johnson, Education Director, joined the High Road of Hartford Primary School team in October of 2015. Mrs. Johnson has attended both the University of Connecticut and Sacred Heart University where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies followed by her Master’s in Elementary Education. Mrs. Johnson then attended the Advanced Alternative Route to Certification through CREC for her cross Endorsement in Special Education. After teaching in Connecticut and Las Vegas, Mrs. Johnson decided to pursue her Administrative Certification (092) back at Sacred Heart University. Mrs. Johnson is currently researching programs in which she might attend to next obtain a Doctorate in Education or BCBA certificate. Outside of school, Mrs. Johnson loves spending time with her husband and two daughters and reading! She also is an avid fan of everything UCONN! Go Huskies!!
Carley Weber, Certified Special Education Teacher, joined the High Road School of Hartford Primary Campus team in 2017. Prior to this, Ms. Weber worked as a teaching assistant and taught at The Gengras Center in West Hartford. Ms. Weber completed her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a Cross Endorsement of Elementary Education Certification in 2015. Ms. Weber has recently completed her Masters Degree in TESOL Education (Teaching English as a Second Language) and graduated May of 2017. It is her goal to grow as a teacher and to watch her students strive for success in the classroom.
Thomas DiLella, a Special Education Teacher at High Road Hartford Primary School, began working with us in August of 2017 with his middle school classroom. He graduated from Syracuse University in 2010 and in the intervening years taught Spanish to a mixed regular- and Special- education classroom in New Haven. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Southern Connecticut State University.
Christine Hartwich started at High Road School of Hartford Primary in 2014, as a special education teacher, after graduating with a degree in elementary and special education from Providence College. She is currently finishing her masters in mathematics education for certified teachers at Central Connecticut State University and plans to complete an 092 educational leadership 6th year degree. Christine serves as our head teacher, our state testing coordinator, a TEAM mentor, a leadership development participant, and has worked with our assessment, curriculum, and instruction team. It is her hope to continue to grow while working with the catapult learning team!
Anjali Quinones, LMSW, is a school social worker who is passionate about helping students in inner city communities access their full potential. She joined the High Road School team in 2016 after completing her advanced standing Master’s Program at the University of Connecticut. In addition to schools, Ms. Quinones also has experience offering therapeutic services through community outreach programs and family homes. Ms. Quinones utilizes her knowledge of group work to promote cohesiveness, enabling students to recognize similarities between each other and maximizing on their strengths whenever possible. She enjoys watching her students learn more about themselves while becoming successful individuals in their own right!
Anabelitza Lozada, Licensed Masters Social Worker, LMSW, joined the High Road School of Hartford- Primary Campus team in 2017 as a bilingual school social worker. Prior to this, Ms. Lozada worked as a Probate Court Officer at Hartford Probate Court for 2 years where she assisted families in children matters. Ms. Lozada has experience providing therapeutic services in outpatient settings and has held various positions at Windham Public Schools including Homeless Support Worker, Family Liaison and Program Coordinator for the Young Parents Program. Ms. Lozada’s social worker experience consists of facilitating social/emotional groups for children under the care of DCF residing in safe homes, curriculum based substance abuse for mandated clients, advocating for children and families in the Windham area where she continues to be involved as a member of the Student Governance Council at Windham High School and District level. Ms. Lozada completed her graduate degree at University of Connecticut Social Work program with a concentration in group work and mental health/substance abuse in 2012. Ms. Lozada is excited to be assisting a great group of providers in helping your child grow and learn!
Joan Thiesen, RN joined the High Road of Hartford staff as School Nurse in October, 2016. She splits her time between the Primary/Middle School and the High School. Known as Nurse T. by the students and staff, she originally graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelors in English. She spent a Summer semester in Dijon, France in 1992. Mrs. Thiesen spent many years in the Corporate world working for Aetna International with a territory of Africa and the Middle East. She then went on to pursue her RN from Goodwin College. She is currently pursuing a Certification in Pediatric Nursing (CPN). In her free time, Mrs. Thiesen loves spending time and traveling with her husband and son. She also loves to read and do puzzles.
