Eurmon Hervey, Vice President of District and Community Partnerships for Catapult Academy, recently co-hosted an episode of Solutions to the Dropout Crisis, a professional development broadcast produced by Clemson University Broadcast Productions for the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network (NDPC/N). Dr. Hervey, a former chair and long-standing board member of the NDPC/N, joined Solutions host Marty Duckenfield for the hour-long program that focused on dropout prevention in big city schools. The episode, “Graduation Success Initiative: A Full Court Press Approach,” featured Cheryl M. Robinson, Counseling Program Manager, and Carol W. Alexander, Counselor, both in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) in North Carolina. The two members of the CMS staff discussed the district’s Graduation Success Initiative (GSI), which has raised graduation rates by nearly 20% over a five-year period.
