As the school year moves forward, this is the time for private school leaders to review and understand the Child Find process shared by their Local Education Agency (LEA). This process is used to evaluate private school students who may have a disability and must occur on the same timeline as evaluations for public school students.
What to Do Now:
– Confirm your LEA has shared its Child Find procedures and timelines.
– Review your school’s internal process for identifying and referring students who may need evaluation.
– Communicate with your LEA if you have students who may require assessment or support.
