A Comprehensive School Analysis (CSA) is a collaborative, research-based needs assessment process that evaluates a school’s leadership, instruction, assessment practices, learning environment, and student support systems. It identifies strengths, root causes of underperformance, and actionable priorities for school improvement.

Unlike compliance-based audits, CSA is a collaborative diagnostic process. It combines structured observations, stakeholder focus groups, student outcome data, and a research-based rubric to provide a systems-level analysis and practical improvement roadmap.

A typical CSA includes:

– Pre-analysis planning
– A multi-day on-site review
– Data analysis
– A comprehensive written summary report
– Leadership debrief and action planning

Implementation timelines can be customized based on district need.

District leaders, school administrators, teachers, students, and families all play a role in providing insight that shapes the final analysis and improvement strategy.

The final report typically includes:

Evidence-based findings across all five systems
Rubric ratings (Beginning, Developing, Proficient, Exemplary)
Root cause analysis
Strategic recommendations
Improvement priorities aligned to district/state expectations

CSA is designed to be the foundation for sustained improvement—not a standalone report. After the analysis, Catapult Learning can provide ongoing implementation and technical assistance support to help schools translate recommendations into action.
