Do you have a favorite teacher or staff member at Sierra Academy?

I like all of the staff in my classroom. Ms. Lekaunas is my teacher and she really makes me feel close to home.  She calms me down and makes it easy for me to be at school.  Mr. McBride makes my classroom fun, he makes it so school isn’t too serious.  I don’t always know what to expect with Mr. McBride.  Ms. Romo is someone I can relate too.  She also keeps the classroom clean, she notices all the details that I do that may need attention in the classroom.  In general she is just really nice.  They are all good role-models.

What's something you're really proud you were able to accomplish recently?

I have managed to attend school for long periods of time without any problems. This used to me hard for me and I did not want to go to school and I would find a way out of it. Now I don’t have anxiety about getting on the bus and going to school.

Is there something you really enjoy about coming to school every day?

I think I enjoy the therapy groups, especially cooking.  The therapist are easy to relate to.

Do you have a favorite class?

My favorite class is math because I tend to think in patterns and this makes it easy for me.  I like doing a lot of things in math.

What is one important thing you have learned during your time at Sierra Academy?

I have learned that it is okay to speak your mind and be a good role-model.  It is good to think of yourself, you don’t always have to think of others.

Do you have any advice for other students on achieving their goals?

One of my favorite things to say is be you and be unique.  Don’t let anyone else change you, life gets a lot easier if you embrace it.

Any last pieces of advice?

Always be nice to others, everyone is going through things too, be understanding.
