Traresse Walker, Teacher

What's a typical day for you at Sierra School?

During the day, I do my best to come up with new and innovated ways to keep my students engaged and interested in the material. My job is to teach, and that starts with gaining the interest of our students.

Can you give an example of a ‘Little Victory’ you’ve seen a student achieve at Sierra School?

Honestly, my entire class has had Little Victories so far this school year. They have progressed so far both academically and behaviorally just in the last couple of months. It’s really exciting to see happen!

Is there something you wish people knew about Sierra School?

I would say that every student is unique, with their own individual challenges and obstacles to overcome. Because of this, small improvements are a big deal to us here at Sierra School and in turn, they’re a big deal to our students as well.

What is something that's special about the staff and teachers?

I really do think we are all in tune with each other, each and every day. We can identify when one of us are struggling or even when one of our kids are struggling and someone is there to hop in automatically to lend a hand.
