Jessica Petersen has been in the field of education, serving students and teachers, for nearly 20 years. She has a passion for education and experience in addressing the unique needs of school districts pertaining to teacher and leadership growth and development.
Jessica is honored to lead FullBloom’s professional development (PD) business and to oversee the expansion of relevant and timely PD offerings that promote both educator and student success. Prior to working with FullBloom, Petersen served as the vice president, professional services at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). While at HMH, Petersen successfully led transformation efforts across professional services with focused recruiting efforts, enablement, and execution of a services strategy to increase revenue and customer satisfaction. Before HMH, she spent a decade working for Kaplan K12 Learning Services in various roles. Petersen started her career working in the classroom as a K-12 teacher.
Laura Hullinger, New Product Development Lead, Praxis
Laura Hullinger serves in the role of New Product Development Lead in the K-12 division at ETS. Laura’s focus since joining ETS has been on developing innovative resources and tools for educator professional learning as well as innovative teacher licensure performance assessments. Before coming to ETS, Laura served as an educator for 21 years. She had the great honor of serving as both a classroom teacher in Grades 2, 4, and 5 and as a professional learning facilitator in Grades PreK-12 in support of her colleagues and their students. As part of her professional learning responsibilities, Laura served as an instructional coach, also spanning Grades PreK-12. Laura also worked as a “master teacher” at the state level, facilitating conversations with teachers and administrators across the state and hosting a film crew in her Grade 4 classroom to record lessons used in state-wide professional development. Laura is a National Board Certified Teacher, with most recent Renewal in 2019. Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is working toward a master’s degree in School Leadership.
Heather Howell, Research Scientist, Praxis
Heather is a Research Scientist in Foundational Research, and has been at ETS since 2011. Her research focus includes the study of teacher content knowledge for teaching, and the study of teacher learning of educational practices such as discussion and argumentation. Heather holds a MS in Mathematics, a MA in Mathematics Education and a PhD in Teaching and Learning with specialization in Mathematics Education from New York University. Previously, she taught mathematics in grades 9-12 and at the undergraduate level, mathematics teaching methods, and mentored mathematics teachers in grade 6-12 in New York City. She has led or co-led numerous NSF-funded grants, predominantly focused on the use of digital simulations to support teacher learning.
