Thousands of young adults in Columbus, Georgia will graduate from high school, some of them taking a different path to walk across the stage. High Road Students Overcome Anxiety, Enjoy Holiday Party

BLOOMINGTON — During a season of rambunctious holiday parties and lively school concerts, children with emotional and intellectual disabilities can miss out on the fun. Parents of students at High Road School — a private educational facility for children with physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral issues — asked if administrators could put together a holiday party for the children. The school, 1316 E. Empire St., did not disappoint. On Thursday, 38 students and about 25 teachers spent the day dancing to festive music, painting ornaments and chatting with Santa Claus. R-XIV Uses New Tool to Gauge Learning

The Lonedell R-XIV School District has implemented a new assessment tool that will help students, teachers, administrators and parents gauge student understanding of specific content taught. Superintendent Jenny Ulrich said the district has recently purchased an online testing tool called Evaluate by Catapult Learning. “Our district uses formative, summative and benchmark testing as part of our instructional program,” she said. “Formative assessments are tests that are given during a unit of instruction. Trenton R-9 Board of Education Approves Baseball Field Agreement, Reviews Summer School

Trenton R-9 Board of Education has approved a baseball field user agreement for two years; and a summer school contract for three years. For use of the Burleigh Grimes baseball field, Trenton R-9 will pay $200 per day, on game days only, to the Trenton Park Department which includes a one-time field preparation and rental. Eight baseball games are planned at home next spring. There will be no charge when Grimes is used for practices.
