Diocese of Albany Counseling & Social Work Program

Provided by Catapult Learning

Catapult Learning is excited to partner with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany to provide counseling and social work services to kindergarten thru twelfth grade students and their teachers and families in all of the Diocesan schools. This partnership has been made possible through a generous grant from Fidelis Care and the Diocesan School Board.

School counseling and social work services will be provided throughout the Diocesan schools to support students, teachers, parents, and administration. The goal of the program is in line with the mission of our schools; educating the whole child-mind, body, and spirit. Parent and Teacher workshops will be a vital part of the program.

Services

Counseling Services

Catapult Learning counseling services are designed to improve student performance and school adjustment. We look at the needs of each student, identify impediments to success, and focus on addressing these challenges through building compensatory skills. Our counseling program positively impacts students in areas related to attendance, reduced discipline referrals, increased engagement in class, and more.

Parent Workshops

Our seasonal Parent Workshop Series provides a unique opportunity for enhanced community, connection, and support. Parents are invited to attend sessions that focus on:

  • Internet Safety
  • At Home Learning
  • How to Keep Your Children Motivated and Engaged in Learning
  • Dealing with Anxiety
  • Screen Time and Educational Apps
  • Helping Children Stay Balanced

These sessions are facilitated by content specialists and mental health professionals.

Classroom Guidance

Classroom guidance programs help students focus on the attainment of knowledge and skills for developing healthy life goals and acquiring the behaviors to reach these goals. Lessons are designed to help students learn about themselves, interact in a positive manner with peers, and develop skills to succeed in their academic environment. Guidance lessons are preventative in nature and aimed to equip students with the skills they need to grow and develop in academic, career and personal/social arenas. These lessons are provided in classroom settings and reach many students at once.
