Educator Takes Home Top Spot in Inaugural Nationwide Program Recognizing Outstanding Teachers

PHILADELPHIA, June 18, 2024Catapult Learning, a provider of professional development solutions for educators in K-12 schools and intervention programs for students, today announced its first Teacher of the Year, Rebekah Ford as. Catapult created the Teacher of the Year program to honor its most outstanding educators, who exemplify high-quality, evidence-based practices, and who work to create an equitable education for all Catapult Learning students.

“The Catapult Learning Teacher of the Year program recognizes and celebrates educators who make an impact on the lives of students by being there and believing that every child can experience success,” said Steve Quattrociocchi, president of Catapult Learning. “We are thrilled to recognize Rebekah Ford as our first Teacher of the Year. She leads by example with an unmatched level of dedication to supporting all students. Young people in her classroom are encouraged to think critically and succeed academically.”

Ford, a K-5 Title 1 and reading and math interventionist at LaSalle Catholic Elementary in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was selected in a vote by Catapult Learning’s executive team, out of more than 200 nominees nationwide. She was instrumental in creating and implementing a new reading intervention initiative called “Lancer Time” that provided additional reading support to her first-grade students. After a six-week pilot program, her students are building stronger reading skills.

“I am incredibly honored to be named Catapult Learning’s first Teacher of the Year,” said Ford. “It is important that students feel successful in my class. It brings me endless joy when they proclaim, some with a smile and sparkle in their eyes, ‘I remember that sound. I can read it.’ Taking steps forward in learning equals success, for all of us.”

Ford earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education (K-6) with a reading endorsement (K-8) at Mount Mercy University and an associate’s degree in elementary education from Kirkwood Community College.

Utilizing a suite of proprietary, research-based programs, Catapult Learning works with students and teachers in public and nonpublic schools throughout the country and around the globe. A team of more than 7,800 Catapult educators enable sustained academic gains while building teacher and leadership capacity through evidence-based programs that include student instruction and family support services, professional development, special education and alternative education programs.

“Catapult Learning is dedicated to providing education solutions that generate demonstrable academic achievement and better life outcomes for students, regardless of the learning obstacles or other challenges they face,” said Quattrociocchi. “We are very proud of every nominee and we look forward to continuing the Teacher of the Year program for years to come.”
