MLK Jr. Day of Service Event

Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors the achievements of one of the most influential of African American civil rights leaders during the 1960s. Martin Luther King Jr. advocated the use of nonviolence to end racial segregation. The day is celebrated with parades and speeches by civil rights and political leaders. MLK Day is known by many as a day of service. Families, Organizations, and Individuals go out into their communities to give back. Volunteering at Delaware Humane Society

Our transition department has partnered with the Delaware Humane Society, allowing our students to volunteer in activities that help them gain hands-on experience, learn new skills, and build positive relationships.  Students are required to fill out an application, attend an orientation, and participate in training courses prior to volunteering. During our last visit, students assisted with folding and storing clean linens, sweeping and mopping, washing food bowls, and sanitizing toys. Visit our website to learn more about High Road School

Out First Cheerleading Practice

Today, students who signed up for cheerleading, and who are on level, went to the boys and girls club for their first cheerleading practice! These students learned about and practiced the correct body posture and formation, and how to use their voice to announce the cheers loud and clear enough for people to hear!
