STCC gives High Road School of Hartford students glimpse of future careers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Technical Community College provided career training to students from High Road School of Hartford. STCC's Workforce Development Center made it possible for students from the High Road School to get a sample of EMT training on Tuesday. Ms. D Lucas has been with High Road Upper School for eight years. Of those eight years, six were spent at the Beltsville location and the other two were spent here in our current location. Lena’s Success!

Lena, a 5th Grader at Choptank Elementary in Cambridge, Maryland recently set a goal to attend math instruction with her general education. She attended math for 30 days in order to earn a special prize that she personally selected. This incentive pushed Lena not only to go to her classes but to exceed our expectations! Lena keeps track of her schedule, and prepares to head to her classes without having to be reminded. B.E.S.T. Academy uses robot to help students with autism

WFSB Eyewitness 3 visited the B.E.S.T. Academy in Wallingford, CT to learn more about Milo, a robot designed to assist students with autism. Milo is being utilized at B.E.S.T. One Shining Star – Emonte

Emonte is a 3rd grader at EES who has celebrated many successes this year. At the start of the year he became a role model for new students entering our classroom. Emonte maintained 25 consecutive school days on our highest level of the behavioral management system which enabled him to earn a hallway pass and complete errands for staff (taking attendance and picking up packages from the office).
