Staff of the Month: Erin

What impact has Erin had on colleagues and students over the past month? Ms. LeCain has taken on a leadership role with both students and new staff in her class helping organize and demonstrate how to have success with the model. She is a great team player, and willing to assist anyway she can. Ms. LeCain was selected by our staff for demonstrating leadership within her class, being able to build relationships with the students and holding them accountable at the same time, and being super helpful to new staff. Meet the Team: Ashley Fitzgerald

Ashley Fitzgerald, Special Education Teacher I made this decision back in high school, after working with the best buddy program which paired me with a student with an intellectual disability. I did things with this person at school and in the community. I still have a relationship with my school’s special education teacher to this day Even prior to this, my mom had taught ski lessons to individuals who are physical and mentally disabled. I enjoyed my time working with this population then and determined that it was something I wanted to [...]

Meet the Team: Marisa Lefebvre

Marisa Lefebvre, Special Education Teacher I love the population of students. I wanted to make a difference in working with students who may not be able to always advocate for themselves. I want to be the support for students who may not otherwise have that. I want to provide my students with the opportunity to see success in their education. My mornings start with greeting every student. Help students with their journal prompt at my desk. Each student may be able to have different privileges depending on what level they [...]

Learning About The Solar System

This past month students in each our K-3 classroom and our 4-7 classroom have been learning about the solar system! Students in both classrooms have taken great interest in former planet, now dwarf planet-Pluto. While our younger students have been working on narratives surrounding what their life would be like as astronauts our older students have been focused on tier II and tier III vocabulary development.  We love seeing our students so engrossed in a topic! December 19th our students put their creativity to use by participating in our annual holiday cookies and crafts event. Students made ornaments, snow globes and keychains among other crafts and sampled various small  treats at each station. We all love to see their creative juices flow, and enjoy having visitors in the building. Visit our website to learn more about High Road School
