Erin new role has allowed her to provide instruction support to our staff by administering diagnostic testing, supporting staff with the development of IEPs goals and objectives, and facilitating other academic functions such as lesson planning, grading and classroom management. Student of the Month: Sammy

What has Sammy accomplished over the past month to achieve Student of the Month? Samuel "Sammy" Ojo was selected as our October Student of the Month for his continued successes in our program, specifically as a student in our B.E.S.T Classroom. Sammy has maintained our highest behavioral level of Blue throughout October. Also, Sammy has perfect attendance throughout the 2019-2020 school year! Community Based Instruction

Last Wednesday, Life Skills took a trip to Subway restaurants for a CBI. While our main focus was to be able to place orders their own, we practiced pedestrian and traffic safety along the way. This was especially important in a newly developed area that may not have all the proper signage posted just yet. Students became more familiar with traffic signs and patterns. We also practiced geographical awareness, as the students led the way to Subway without much assistance from staff (obviously we were right next to them the entire time, but they "led the way"). Sensory Room

Sensory room is a specialized area within our program where we can provide students with opportunities to apply sensory interventions to engage in experiences designed to help them explore sensory stimuli in a safe, structured and adult monitored area. This area included such sensory and modulation activities as body socks, sensory swing, water play table, bean bag chairs, light filtration curtains and light fixtures, as well other various activities for students to self-regulate and sensory explore during their school day. Motor Lab

Motor-Lab is a specialized movement area filled with sensory input and output activities to help students with sensory issues to facilitate a more efficient academic environment and to assist with self-stimulation behaviors. Students come here to explore the crash pad, trampoline, crawl tunnel, sensory hammock; as well activates for gross and fine motor skills utilizing stick pads, scooter carts, puzzles, stringing beads, and picture drawling and tracing.
