Catapult Learning attended the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals (MAESP) Leadership Conference at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri from March 2-5, 2019. The Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals is a statewide organization in Missouri that exists to serve the needs of elementary and middle school principals, assistant principals and those educators interested in becoming elementary or middle level principals. Journey to Gold: Jared L

Jared L., 11th Grade Jared L., an 11th grader at High Road Academy, recently reached the Gold Level in the program's school-wide behavior management system. The Gold Level acknowledges when a student has reached a superb level of character and provides a model for other students to follow. National Pi Day Classroom Activity Incorporating STEM and the Engineering Design Process

Pi Day is celebrated each year on March 14 (3/14) as a fun way to commemorate pi (π). March 14th is also Albert Einstein’s birthday. The date represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter — the number that begins with 3.14. Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) Conference

On February 18th Catapult Learning exhibited at the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) Conference. The theme of this conference was “Great Ideas.” Hundreds of special education professionals and industry partners gather to exchange time, resources, strategies, solutions, and more. Over three days of learning, we were able to engage with leaders of special education, grow, and find inspiration we can use in our daily routines.

Reading Awareness Month Author Visit

Students at the High Road School in Norwalk learned how to dramatically improve their scores on exams thanks to a visit with Professor Paul Hughes, author of “Change Your Grades, Change Your Life.” In a meeting with a group of high school students, Professor Hughes explained how and why the simple minutes a day reading exercise works. Professor Hughes explained how repeated failure on exams can causes students to “program” their negative thoughts and beliefs about exams into repeated failure. What is Occupational Therapy?

What is Occupational Therapy? In the school system, Occupational Therapy Practitioners focus on improving students overall academic improvement by integrating new techniques and giving more support outside of the classroom to improve fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory processing, attention, coordination, visual perception and ADLs (activities of daily living) so they are able to apply these skills in their every day school environment. Black History Month

For Black History month, the students did research on the famous person they were assigned. Each student had to look up important information about their person, including when and where they were born, important facts about their accomplishments, and their legacy. The children really enjoyed doing this project, they learned so many new things about all these important people. February Student of the Month

February's Student of the Month made an impressive rise through the Level system, worked hard on task completion, showed increased willingness to be flexible, did his best to process directions and stay on task, and averaged an impressive 95% of his daily behavior points and 100% of his daily work points throughout the month.
